Traits
A MicroBuddy's genome is composed of traits. Dominant traits define a MicroBuddy's appearance and GOO production, while recessive traits have the potential to show up as dominant in a MicroBuddy's next replication.
Types of Traits
MicroBuddy's have up to 6 trait types that define their appearance:
Some MicroBuddies have a top (like hair, or a hat!)
at least 5 possible per species
All MicroBuddies have eyes (also includes eyebrows, glasses and other accessories!)
at least 20 possible per species
All MicroBuddies have a mouth and/or nose
at least 20 possible per species
Some MicroBuddies have a body pattern
at least 10 possible per species
All MicroBuddies have a body color
at least 20 possible per species
Some MicroBuddies have a bottom (like a tail, wings, or even a rainbow behind them!)
at least 5 possible per species
Diversity
Every MicroBuddy species has its own set of at least 80 unique attainable traits. However, each individual MicroBuddy has an amount of traits in its genome corresponding to its rarity (duplicates are possible):
Each Common has 1 dominant trait and 3 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 24.
Each Rare has 1 dominant trait and 3 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 24.
Each Legendary has 1 dominant trait and 4 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 36.
Each Exalted has 1 dominant trait and 4 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 36.
Rarity
Traits have two levels of rarity. The first level is determined by its rarity class, which consists of:
Common (Green)
Rare (Blue)
Legendary (Orange)
Exalted (Purple)
The second level is determined by the trait ID. The higher the trait ID, the higher the rarity.
Mutations
Mutations are additional traits which combine other traits and can only be obtained through replication. They produce more GOO than any other trait in the game.
Some mutations are made from combining other mutations, known as mutation mutations!
Buddy Rarity
MicroBuddies have a background color to denote their overall rarity based on the average rarity of their dominant traits. For this, each trait has a rarity score:
Common = 1
Rare = 2
Legendary = 4
Exalted = 8
Mutation = 9
The total rarity score of all 6 dominant traits combined is then divided by 6 to get the average rarity, which is determined as:
Common = 0-1.5
Rare = 1.6-3.0
Legendary = 3.1-6.0
Exalted = 6.1-8.6
Mutation = 8.6+
A MicroBuddy with the maximum trait ID for every dominant trait it has becomes a Divine Buddy.
