MicroBuddies is a [Non-Fungible Token (NFT)](/more-info/glossary#non-fungible-token-nft) strategy game featuring 10 species of cute, lovable, and *not* evil Microbes that passively produce a virtual currency called [GOO](/more-info/glossary#goo).

Unlike other breeding games, MicroBuddies reproduce aesexually through a process known as replication. Replicating a MicroBuddy requires GOO and will create a new MicroBuddy of the next generation with traits inherited from its parent. As a general rule, the better the traits, the better the [GOO production](/microbuddies/goo-production).

The MicroBuddies game world contains a number of tools players can leverage in order to enhance their MicroBuddy's traits with each new replication. However, player's must think carefully and strategically about how they use these tools, as each MicroBuddy has a finite number of replications before it becomes [barren](/more-info/glossary#barren).

The first 2,500 MicroBuddies, known as Generation 0, are an extremely scarce set of MicroBuddies that give birth to the rest of the game. Each has 5 total replications. From there things become.. exponential.

MicroBuddies is played on the Polygon blockchain.

### The Mission

Our ultimate mission is to demonstrate the power tokenized ownership can bring to player.

By mixing blockchain technology with game theory, we believe we can create positive feedback loops of value accrual within the robust universe that is MicroBuddies. Everything we do is meant to provide value or useful service to our holders.

Our vision: to demonstrate the power tokenized ownership can bring to the player.

# Genesis Event

## Origin

In 2021, 2,500 novel microbes were discovered in an abandoned Nano Factory. There were 10 unique species, each with a unique genetic makeup and the ability to self-replicate from their own byproduct: GOO™!

Due to their endearing behaviors, these microbes, and all that would come after them, became known as MicroBuddies.

## Genesis Event

During the Genesis Event prior to the game's full launch, up to three Nano Factory Tokens can be purchased per wallet at a price between 0.05 and 0.15 ETH each, based on the time of purchase. Nano Factory Tokens will be able to be synthesized into a MicroBuddy when the game fully launches. Any Nano Factory tokens from the supply of 2500 that fail to sell by the launch of the game will be permanently burnt.

# Species

There are 10 different species of MicroBuddy, each with their own unique genealogies. Our nanobiologists categorized each MicroBuddy species into a rarity pool based on their saturation at Genesis and their ability to produce GOO. Each MicroBuddy species essentially represents its own individual game, with the common denominator between all species being [GOO](/goo-token/tokenomics)!

In addition to the 2490 MicroBuddies above, an additional 10 "[Founder](/microbuddies/goo-production/founders)" MicroBuddies will be minted. "FounderBuddies" are [barren](/more-info/glossary#barren) (cannot replicate and do not naturally produce GOO). Instead, they will produce [a percentage](/microbuddies/replication#replication-fee) of the game's fees in order to incentivize the holders to support the growth of the game itself.

# Traits

A MicroBuddy's genome is composed of traits. **Dominant** traits define a MicroBuddy's appearance and [GOO production](/microbuddies/goo-production), while **recessive** traits have the potential to show up as dominant in a MicroBuddy's next [replication](/microbuddies/replication).

## Types of Traits

MicroBuddy's have up to 6 trait types that define their appearance:

* Some MicroBuddies have a **top** (like hair, or a hat!)

  * at least 5 possible per species

* All MicroBuddies have **eyes** (also includes eyebrows, glasses and other accessories!)
  * at least 20 possible per species<br>

* All MicroBuddies have a **mouth and/or nose**
  * at least 20 possible per species<br>

* Some MicroBuddies have a **body pattern**
  * at least 10 possible per species<br>

* All MicroBuddies have a **body color**
  * at least 20 possible per species<br>

* Some MicroBuddies have a **bottom** (like a tail, wings, or even a rainbow behind them!)
  * at least 5 possible per species

## Diversity

Every MicroBuddy species has its own set of at least 80 unique attainable traits. However, each individual MicroBuddy has an amount of traits in its genome corresponding to its rarity (duplicates are possible):

* Each Common has 1 dominant trait and 3 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 24.
* Each Rare has 1 dominant trait and 3 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 24.
* Each Legendary has 1 dominant trait and 4 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 36.
* Each Exalted has 1 dominant trait and 4 recessive traits from each type for a genome size of 36.

## Rarity

Traits have two levels of rarity. The first level is determined by its rarity class, which consists of:

* Common (Green)
* Rare (Blue)
* Legendary (Orange)
* Exalted (Purple)

The second level is determined by the trait ID. The higher the trait ID, the higher the rarity.

## Mutations

[Mutations](/microbuddies/replication#mutations) are additional traits which combine other traits and can only be obtained through replication. They produce more GOO than any other trait in the game.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Some mutations are made from combining other mutations, known as mutation mutations!
{% endhint %}

## Buddy Rarity

MicroBuddies have a background color to denote their overall rarity based on the average rarity of their dominant traits. For this, each trait has a rarity score:

* Common = 1
* Rare = 2
* Legendary = 4
* Exalted = 8
* Mutation = 9

The total rarity score of all 6 dominant traits combined is then divided by 6 to get the **average rarity**, which is determined as:

* Common = 0-1.5
* Rare = 1.6-3.0
* Legendary = 3.1-6.0
* Exalted = 6.1-8.6
* Mutation = 8.6+

{% hint style="info" %}
A MicroBuddy with the maximum trait ID for every dominant trait it has becomes a [Divine Buddy](https://docs.microbuddies.io/more-info/glossary#divine-buddy).
{% endhint %}

# GOO Production

Every non-[barren](/more-info/glossary#barren) MicroBuddy produces GOO. The amount of GOO a MicroBuddy produces is measured in Goo Per Day (GPD) and is determined by:

* [Species Rarity](/microbuddies/species)
* [Traits](/microbuddies/traits)
* [Fertility](/microbuddies/replication)
* [The "Peg Value"](/goo-token/tokenomics#peg-value)

## Gross GPD

A MicroBuddy species, as well as each of its dominant traits, determines its gross GOO per day (GGPD). The productivity of each trait is directly correlated to its rarity. Below you can see the formula for GGPD and how the value for each variable is determined.

For each dominant trait, add:

$$
DominantValue^2 \* SpeciesValue
$$

### Species Value

| Rarity    | Value |
| --------- | ----- |
| Common    | 2     |
| Rare      | 3     |
| Legendary | 4     |
| Exalted   | 4     |

### Dominant Value

| Trait Type   | Value   |
| ------------ | ------- |
| Top          | ID \* 3 |
| Mouth        | ID      |
| Eyes         | ID      |
| Body Pattern | ID \* 2 |
| Body Color   | ID      |
| Bottom       | ID \* 3 |

## Fertility GPD

Fertility also plays a big role in GOO production. After calculations are made for the gross GPD, it is then multiplied by a value equal to:

$$
ReplicationsRemaining / 5
$$

This ultimately means that a MicroBuddy will produce 20% more/less GOO for each replication it has over/under 5, respectively.

{% hint style="info" %}
Fertility GPD could also be referred to as Adjusted Gross GOO per Day (AGGPD)
{% endhint %}

## Peg Value

After ALL other calculations have been made, a MicroBuddy's adjusted GGPD value is multiplied by the "Peg Value", a global value that aims to peg the supply of GOO to 5 billion. You can read more about the Peg Value and how it is calculated [here](/goo-token/tokenomics).

## GOO Collection

The GOO a MicroBuddy produces will need to be minted at the GOO extractor in-game. However, GOO does not endlessly accumulate for a MicroBuddy. In order to prevent inactivity and hoarding inflation, a MicroBuddy can only hold 90 \* GGPD. Once a buddy reaches this limit, it will become [encumbered](https://docs.microbuddies.io/more-info/glossary#encumbered), so players will need to actively extract and transfer their buddy's GOO from time to time to keep it productive.

{% hint style="info" %}
GOO extraction has a 5 minute cooldown for each MicroBuddy
{% endhint %}

### Black Holes

There are two special buddies in the game, known as Black Hole buddies. These buddies are held by the Black Hole and GOO [smart contracts](/more-info/contract-addresses) in order to facilitate the transfer and storage of GOO necessary for gameplay, so that there is no risk that one of the smart contracts will reach capacity and prevent gameplay.

# Founders

The 10 Founder MicroBuddies (FounderBuddies) are special MicroBuddies that represent each of the 10 species of the game. They cannot replicate and do not produce goo naturally (barren). Instead, they split an equal share of 1% of all the GOO spent in the game.

## Distribution

FounderBuddies exist to incentivize their holders to maintain and grow the game. The first 9 will be distributed to the founding team of MicroBuddies. The final Waterbear FounderBuddy, head of the founders, will be auctioned on an NFT marketplace for the public.

Founder MicroBuddies can be bought and sold just like any other MicroBuddy.

## Claiming

All GOO used for replication fees, as described [here](/microbuddies/replication), that is not immediately burnt is stored in a [smart contract](/more-info/contract-addresses). Holders of FounderBuddies may claim their share of the smart contract balance once per week (estimated in blocks). The first person to claim will receive 10% of the smart contract balance. After that, any claim from another Founder will be granted the exact same amount, not necessarily 10%. Once a week (estimated in blocks) has passed since the first claim was made, the next claim will take 10% of the balance and set the claim amount for the following week, and so on. This process is made so that each Founder MicroBuddy holder will receive the same amount of GOO each week that they claim, without gamifying the timing of the claim.

{% hint style="info" %}
FounderBuddies also have a maximum GOO holding equal to 1% of the total GOO supply.
{% endhint %}

# Replication

MicroBuddies can self-replicate and pass on their traits when fed a sufficient amount of [GOO](/goo-token/tokenomics).

## Replication Fee

Replicating a MicroBuddy at the [GRC](/microbuddies/replication#artificial-selection) requires paying a replication fee equal to $$3 \* GrossGPD + RecessiveBonus$$. Where RecessiveBonus is:&#x20;

For each recessive trait which would score a dominant value above 17 in [GOO production](/microbuddies/goo-production#dominant-value), add: $$DominantValue^2/2$$&#x20;

Replicating a MicroBuddy at the standard replicator without access to artificial selection costs simply $$GrossGPD$$.

99% of all replication fees (including artificial selection fees) are burnt. The remaining 1% is distributed equally between the [founder MicroBuddies](/microbuddies/species).

[Learn more about GPD and Goo Production](/microbuddies/goo-production).

{% hint style="info" %}
&#x20;If your MicroBuddy doesn't have enough GOO, you can pay for replication fees with the GOO of your other Buddies.
{% endhint %}

## Generations

The MicroBuddy that is minted from a replication event is always exactly one generation higher than its parent. For example, when a Generation 0 MicroBuddy replicates, it creates a Generation 1 MicroBuddy. When a Generation 1 MicroBuddy replicates, it creates a Generation 2 MicroBuddy, and so on. The max generation is 250.

{% hint style="info" %}
There will never be more than 2500 Generation 0 MicroBuddies.
{% endhint %}

## Inheritance

During replication, 6 traits, one from each type, are selected from a MicroBuddy's genome. The probability of a MicroBuddy inheriting its parent's dominant trait is always 40% (except when guaranteed by artificial selection).

The odds of receiving a particular recessive trait is entirely determined by its position in the parent's genome. The percentage chance for this can be calculated as:

$$
100(Position/10)
$$

Where position is a number between 1 and 4, with 4 being the trait highest on the list of recessive traits in a parent's genome, and 1 being the lowest.&#x20;

![An in-game example of the traits list and their position values.](https://176642536-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-MWoR6ZTP0WNgn3Z0urE%2F-Mjja9E42Dy_C4EPogb8%2F-Mjje327svKvbZ8ra_kb%2Fpositions.png?alt=media\&token=6c3a6e96-f56e-417f-9a42-8a64dabb9f25)

### Mutations

Some trait combos, when the rarest is present as the dominant trait in the genome, are guaranteed to produce a new, highly productive mutated trait as a dominant trait in the next generation. Players will have to hunt down which trait combos produce mutations.

## Artificial Selection

Before initiating a replication, a MicroBuddy may receive any of the following at the Genetic Recombobulator (GRC) for extra replication fees:

### Dominant Lock

For an additional payment of the replication fee, a single trait may be locked in as guaranteed dominant for the next replication. This action may be repeated up to three times per replication.

### Recessive Reroll

For an additional payment of 35% of the replication fee, a single recessive trait may be rerolled into a trait of the same rarity or better for the next generation. This action may be repeated up to four times per replication.

During a reroll, a random is first drawn to determine trait rarity, as follows:

* 50% chance for Common
* 38% chance for Rare
* 8% chance for Legendary
* 4% chance for Exalted

Next, a trait ID from the chosen rarity is randomly selected, weighted so that lower IDs are more likely than higher IDs. Below is the formula for determining the probability of a given trait ID, where min is the lowest trait ID for the rarity, and max is the highest.

$$
(max-(ID-min))/(((max - (min - 1)) \* (min + max)) / 2)
$$

Note: For common Tops, Body Patterns, and Bottoms, there is an additional 10% chance to grant a null.

Each new recessive trait is sent to the furthest position in the genome (less likely to become dominant right away).

{% hint style="info" %}
A trait with rarity higher than common inherits the odds of all the rarities below it. I.e. a Legendary trait has a 95% chance to be Legendary (49 + 38 + 8), and a 5% chance to be Exalted.
{% endhint %}

## Fertility

Every MicroBuddy has a finite amount of replications, between 0 and 6, determined at birth. The higher the generation, the more likely the replications will be lower. Additionally, with each replication a MicroBuddy becomes less GOO productive, something you can read about [here](/microbuddies/goo-production#fertility-gpd). When a MicroBuddy has depleted all of its replications, it becomes [barren](/more-info/glossary#barren).&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Other than Founder MicroBuddies, Generation 0 MicroBuddies all have exactly 5 replications, which means there can be a maximum of 12,450 Generation 1 MicroBuddies.
{% endhint %}

##

# Apoptosis

In an effort to keep the MicroBuddies rapid reproduction under control, the nanobiologists created apoptosis, or in other words, a way to kill your MicroBuddy:astonished:

In order to initiate apoptosis, you will need at least two MicroBuddies. First, the target buddy, who will be [burned](/more-info/glossary#burn) in exchange for 1% of all GOO they produced during their lifetime (minimum reward: 1 GOO). Second, the receiver buddy/buddies, who will receive the GOO minted from the target. Any GOO the receiver(s) does not have carrying capacity for will not be minted.

Apoptosis can be an effective way of removing barren MicroBuddies, or making certain generations more scarce. However, even the most useless of MicroBuddies can still make for valuable collectibles - so consider the consequences before initiating apoptosis!

{% hint style="info" %}
Founder MicroBuddies cannot be the target of apoptosis.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Apoptosis is affected by the PEG value.
{% endhint %}

# GOO Token

## What Is GOO?

[GOO](/more-info/glossary#goo) is the official virtual currency of MicroBuddies.&#x20;

MicroBuddies believes players should hold the property rights to the items they earn in video games. It is only logical, then, for the same belief to apply to the currency of video game economies. However, it is also important that game currencies do not in and of themselves become speculative assets or transferrable for value outside of the game.

The solution: GOO is a custom ERC20 token for NFTs inspired by [Rarity Gold](https://ftmscan.com/address/0x2069B76Afe6b734Fb65D1d099E7ec64ee9CC76B2#code). While a normal ERC20 token is owned by a user (address), GOO is actually owned by the MicroBuddies (NFTs) themselves. This means addresses, like people and smart contracts, cannot hold GOO. Instead, GOO can only be transferred between Buddies themselves.

It is still possible for a robust in game economy to develop when GOO is tied to the game through MicroBuddies, with the added benefit of avoiding negative speculative activity that might occur if GOO were not tied to the game. One powerful application of this implementation is that games and platforms can create in-game GOO auction houses, stores, and other services by employing a MicroBuddy to act as the vendor (or middleman) for transferring GOO safely between two buddies in exchange for in-game goods/services.

## Tokenomics

In order to keep the game playable, GOO does not have a max supply. Instead, it has inflation controls designed to peg the supply to a value around 5 billion GOO. These controls are implemented in two ways:

1. The majority of GOO spent on gameplay functions is [burnt](/more-info/glossary#burn). [More details](/microbuddies/replication#replication-fee).
2. The "Peg Value" described below.

### Peg Value

The Peg Value is a number that influences all goo production. It is calculated as:

$$
5,000,000,000 / (CirculatingSupply + 1)
$$

After all other calculations are made in determining a MicroBuddy's [GOO per day (GPD)](/more-info/glossary#goo-per-day-gpd), the final GPD is determined by multiplying it by this Peg Value. This creates an effect where, when the GOO supply is under 5B, MicroBuddies make more GOO to help bring the supply up to 5B, and when the supply of GOO is above 5B, MicroBuddies make less GOO until the burn rate exceeds the production rate and brings the supply back down to 5B.

{% hint style="info" %}
The max peg value is 5, and the minimum is 0.05
{% endhint %}

## Acquisition

There are three primary methods of obtaining GOO.&#x20;

1. By simply holding productive MicroBuddies and collecting their GOO.
2. By purchasing productive (or GOO holding) MicroBuddies from other players on [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/microbuddies).
3. By receiving GOO from other MicroBuddies (even in another game!).

{% hint style="info" %}
The GOO token is a fair launch token. That means there was no VC allocation, no pre-mine, and no ICO. The only way GOO is actually [minted](/more-info/glossary#mint) is from non-barren MicroBuddies & [Apoptosis](/microbuddies/apoptosis).
{% endhint %}

## GOO Uses

### [Replication](/microbuddies/replication)

The leading utility for GOO is as the game currency, of course! A MicroBuddy requires energy to self-replicate, and the only way to give one energy is by feeding them GOO. A large percentage of GOO used for replications is burnt to prevent inflation, while the remaining percentage is distributed to [FounderBuddies](/microbuddies/goo-production/founders).

### [Feeding PFPs & Eggs](/genesis-collections/water-bear-collection/goo-feeding)

### Minecraft

### Governance

Because each MicroBuddy has a finite number of replications, and MicroBuddies in later generations can be born with 0 replications, there exists an unknown, but finite number of possible replications. This means that over time, the supply of MicroBuddies and GOO will become more fixed, turning the game into the ultimate CryptoPunks-esque collectible, but with a rich history of a once vibrant community and game.

With all of this in mind, the creators of MicroBuddies intend to burn the admin keys controlling the game once its roadmap is complete and the game is stable and bug free. Burning the admins keys allows for MicroBuddies to mature into the above scenario naturally and immutably, without risk of intervention from a third party, even a DAO. This is our ultimate vision for MicroBuddies. From then on, anyone can build onto MicroBuddies, introduce new games that give them more utility, and more!&#x20;

# Water Bear Collection

The Water Bear Collection is a collection of 5,555 PFPs on the Ethereum blockchain. Water Bears have direct tie-ins to the game in the form of GOO feeding and represent upgraded, collectible membership tokens in the MicroBuddies ecosystem.

**OpenSea**: <https://opensea.io/collection/water-bear-collection>

**Rarity**: Coming soon

**Egg OpenSea**: <https://opensea.io/collection/water-bear-goo-baby-eggs>

## DNA

Every Water Bear PFP has a DNA type that defines its rarity as a collectible, as well as various mechanics in the GOO Feeding mini-game. Here are the supplies of each DNA:

### Standard

* Supply: 3100

### Serf

* Supply: 1615

### Invisible

* Supply: 535

### Ice

* Supply: 215

### Dark

* Supply: 90

# GOO Feeding

Every Water Bear PFP in the Water Bear Collection can be fed GOO! When a bear is fed the correct amount of GOO, it will produce a **Common GOO Baby Egg** of the same DNA. The cost is based on DNA, as follows:

* Standard: 100,000
* Serf: 150,000
* Invisible: 200,000
* Ice: 250,000
* Dark: 250,000

{% hint style="info" %}
Each Water Bear can make 1 GOO Baby egg per day.
{% endhint %}

# Hatchery

Manage your GOO Baby eggs!

## GOO Feeding <a href="#goo-feeding" id="goo-feeding"></a>

GOO Baby eggs can be fed GOO, too! When fed, eggs will level up. Each level requires 5% more GOO than the last. Here is all the data for common eggs at each DNA:

#### Standard <a href="#standard" id="standard"></a>

* Base level cost: 1000
* Max level: 30

#### Serf <a href="#serf" id="serf"></a>

* Base level cost: 1500
* Max level: 35

#### Invisible <a href="#invisible" id="invisible"></a>

* Base level cost: 2000
* Max level: 40

#### Ice <a href="#ice" id="ice"></a>

* Base level cost: 2500
* Max level: 50

#### Dark <a href="#dark" id="dark"></a>

* Base level cost: 2500
* Max level: 50

## Fusing <a href="#fusing" id="fusing"></a>

GOO baby eggs can also be fused with other eggs that share the same rarity and DNA to create an egg of the next rarity tier. For example, two Common Standard GOO Baby eggs can be fused to receive a single Rare Standard GOO Baby egg!When two eggs are fused, the new egg's starting level will be the average of the two fused eggs. The new egg's max level will be the starting level plus 50. For example, if our two fused Common Standard eggs were both at the max level of 30, the Rare Standard GOO Baby egg would start at level 30, and have a max level of 80!

#### Fusing Rarities <a href="#fusing-rarities" id="fusing-rarities"></a>

* Common
* Rare
* Legendary
* Exalted
* Divine

## Hatchery Upgrades <a href="#hatchery-upgrades" id="hatchery-upgrades"></a>

In order to fuse pets to a new rarity tier, your hatchery must be upgraded to the appropriate level.

#### Hatchery 1 <a href="#hatchery-1" id="hatchery-1"></a>

* Cost: 50,000 GOO
* Unlocks Common -> Rare fusing

#### Hatchery 2 <a href="#hatchery-2" id="hatchery-2"></a>

# Acquiring MicroBuddies

Acquiring a MicroBuddy will require a cryptocurrency wallet such as Metamask and some MATIC to pay network fees on the blockchain. Learn more about setting up Metamask [here](/how-to/setting-up-metamask) and connecting to the Polygon blockchain [here](/how-to/connecting-to-polygon).

## Genesis Event

The Genesis event started on May 28th at <https://microbuddies.io> and is currently ongoing. 2500 Nano Factory Tokens are being sold to early adopters for 0.05-0.15 ETH each. These Factories will give birth to the original set of MicroBuddies (generation 0) that the rest of the game will spawn from. After the genesis event, propsective players will need to purchase a MicroBuddy from an existing player on [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/microbuddies).

## OpenSea

Players and collectors alike are able to list and auction MicroBuddies on [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/microbuddies). The price of any given MicroBuddy on OpenSea will be determined by the market, and some MicroBuddies may have characteristics that command a higher market price as determined by market participants.&#x20;

Click [here](https://opensea.io/collection/microbuddies) to see all of the MicroBuddies available on OpenSea.

# Security

## NFT Storage

One of the biggest challenges for NFTs is decentralized storage and data permanence. While most NFTs utilize [IPFS](https://ipfs.io/) for data storage, there is often a centralized point of failure, i.e. images themselves are hosted on a centralized server. In the event the centralized web server went offline, decided to censor the project in question, or the project creators were unable to pay for hosting costs for any reason, the image linked to the NFT would become null and potentially unrecoverable.

MicroBuddies attempts to solve this efficiently by ensuring all of the base traits comprising a MicroBuddy are stored over IPFS via a service from [Protocol Labs](https://protocol.ai/) (the creators of IPFS and Filecoin), named simply [NFT Storage](https://nft.storage/). NFT Storage aims to provide free, decentralized data storage that preserves NFT permanence. Because we will store the traits themselves, the file size is under 100MB, small enough for almost anyone to download as a backup.

So, in the event of a worst-case-scenario centralized failure, anybody with the trait images can then reference them to the on-chain DNA and reconstruct all of the MicroBuddies in the game along with the front-end. MicroBuddies is setup to exist for as long as people desire it to.

## Buddy Locking

On the open market, it is possible for users to list a buddy for sale and still play the game with it, meaning you might buy a buddy with 0 replications used and 100,000 GOO only to realize that the previous owner used up all the GOO and replications at the last minute before you purchased.

To help prevent this scenario from occurring and increase buyer confidence, sellers can optionally "lock" their buddy from performing any actions in the game on their buddy's profile page. Buyers should consider the risks before purchasing any high value unlocked buddy off the market.

{% hint style="info" %}
After unlocking, a buddy will have to wait 5 minutes before it can resume game activities.
{% endhint %}

## Code Audits

MicroBuddies aims to be audited by a reputable cybersecurity company. We will provide a link to the audit on our github page once it is complete.

# Connecting to Polygon

In order to connect to Polygon, you must add a custom RPC to MetaMask. Follow the steps below to get setup!

1\. In MetaMask, click the network selection dropdown and select "Custom RPC".

![](https://176642536-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-MWoR6ZTP0WNgn3Z0urE%2F-MjPUereCOPcyVSuM3ot%2F-MjPVBQ-t7Yb0lWcgbct%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=95a50eeb-3874-451f-bd42-d886fcb324d1)

2\. On the Settings page that opens, add the following:

* **Network Name**: Polygon Mainnet
* **New RPC URL**: <https://polygon-rpc.com/>
* **Chain ID**: 137
* **Currency Symbol**: MATIC
* **Block Explorer**: <https://polygonscan.com/>

3\. You're all set! "Polygon Mainnet" should now be an option in the network selection dropdown!&#x20;

**Additional tips**:

* You can bridge ETH to the Polygon blockchain using <https://wallet.matic.network/bridge/> or <https://bridge.umbria.network/bridge/ethereum-polygon/eth>.
* You can then change ETH into MATIC for paying gas fees using <https://wallet.polygon.technology/gas-swap>
* You can purchase MicroBuddies with your bridged ETH from other players at <https://opensea.io/collection/microbuddies>
* You can also swap your ETH for even more MATIC on [QuickSwap](https://quickswap.exchange/#/swap?inputCurrency=0x7ceB23fD6bC0adD59E62ac25578270cFf1b9f619).

Enjoy!
